Helping to Regenerate God’s Creation

Helping to Regenerate God’s Creation

In response to the Climate Crisis, the people of Broadway URC embarked on a mission to “Transform” our church land to increase biodiversity, and encourage insect and birdlife.

A site survey by Natural Networks in 2020 and enrolment on the ARocha Ecochurch initiative demonstrated that there was a lot we could do to have a positive impact.

Today, the church land has indeed been transformed. New plants, trees, birdfeeders, bug hotels, birdbaths, artwork, water barrels, seating, bird boxes, composting, and more…

Involvement in national surveys has recorded the increase in butterflies, dragonflies, and birdlife. Local people have told us of the pleasure they feel. Broadway Parish Council and West Midlands Synod have commended our work.

Having now implemented all of the recommended actions, we are now moving into the “Tend”  phase of our mission initiative.

We are also developing ways to help people to find peace and joy in the garden including our little booklet “ A Little Walk in the Garden with God”
