Boardom Busters! Table Games
Enjoy a warm welcome, table games, cake, and coffee.
You can choose which games you’d like to play from our large and varied store of games. Then you’ll be introduced to each other to play the game for an enjoyable afternoon. It’s an opportunity to enjoy games you already know, and to try out new games too. You can play several different games in an afternoon if you fancy it. With cake and coffee provided, old friends can meet up, and new friendships can begin. If you’d like to give it a whirl – just pop in. Come when you can, stay as long as you like. Just have a coffee and a chat if you prefer. First Tuesday of every month, 2-4pm in the URC hall. See website calendar for exact dates.
Donations of £2-3 are welcome per session, but please do come even if you don’t have the money.
Look After Yourself Gentle Exercise
Gentle exercise seated or standing to improve your mobility, balance, strength, and all-round wellness in a fun way. Qualified tutors lead us through exercise to music one week, and Tai Chi the following week. All in a friendly and relaxed environment. Every Thursday 10.30 to 11.30 am. In the URC Hall, stay on for tea, coffee, and chat afterwards if you like.
Donations of £2-3 are welcome per session, but please do come even if you don’t have the money.
Threads Crafts
At Threads we knit, crochet, and chat in an atmosphere of Christian fellowship. Some of us work on our own projects, but we also share in making things for others. Squares are stitched together to make blankets, some for adults, some for children and babies. Teddy bears are knitted for ‘the Baby Bear project’, to bring cheer to bewildered little ones, some are refugees fleeing from war, others experiencing different sorts of trauma. Twiddle mittens help dementia patients to remain calm, giving them something to do with restless hands. All are welcome to join us and increase your feeling of all-round wellness. We meet in the Jubilee Room at the URC on the Third Wednesday of each month, from 2 until 4 pm. See website calendar for exact dates.
Donations of £2-3 are welcome per session, but please do come even if you don’t have the money.
Today’s Our Day Dementia and other conditions
For folk living with Dementia and other conditions and their carers, family, and friends.
Are you a Carer? Do you feel overwhelmed/anxious/lonely or just need time to relax and chat with folk who understand?
Come to a small group who all have, or have had, caring roles, for a relaxed afternoon of chat about anything and to find mutual support and friendship and improve your own all round-wellness. We meet in the URC Jubilee Room every Thursday from 2-4pm. You are welcome to come on your own. Or your cared-for could come too and join in activities in the URC Hall
Cared-for folk can enjoy a relaxed afternoon of table games, crafts, music, tea, and cakes just next door to where the carers can get together. Companions, family members, friends and carers can join in the activities with their cared-for in the URC Hall if they wish, or spend some time with other carers in the Jubilee Room, whilst volunteers are with their cared-for enjoying the moment and improving their feeling of wellness too. Every Thursday 2-4pm in the URC Hall.
Donations of £2-3 are welcome per session, but please do come even if you don’t have the money.
